Why we are different
Based in the devolved nations, we monitor the whole of the UK but with a different perspective. If you prefer a conversation to a dashboard, come chat to us.
“Tell us what you need and we’ll deliver what you need to know.”
This short sentence has defined our person-centred approach to political monitoring for over two decades. We aim to sustain long-lasting client relationships, investing time at the start of each new service to understand your areas of interest and how you’d like a service to work.
Newsdirect is a team of subject specialists, not a dashboard.
We strive to understand what it is you are interested in and then get that to you quickly. Are you hearing about things too late or not at all? Are you being swamped by content? At Newsdirect you explain to a person what you need, provide a little context and background to help guide the search and then trust them to be motivated and accountable for delivering it. Much like the positive relationships you already have around you at work.
By avoiding keyword lists and check-box services, we’re able to offer a service that is responsive, flexible and helpful to you.
Newsdirect focuses on political monitoring, training and research. We contribute many of the important elements that underpin great political engagement, including data-gathering, mapping services, biographical searches and research expertise. We don’t advise on political strategy or engage with politicians on our clients’ behalf. This offers you the assurance that we will never be conflicted by competing agendas or compromising campaigns.
We are a purposeful business fully signed up the principles of fair work. We are deeply committed to offering early career opportunities in public affairs and policy to everyone – not just those who can afford to work without pay. We are developing new partnerships with like-minded organisations to offer placements and interns that offer a hand up to new entrants, especially those currently under-represented in our sector.
“Those who climb first have a duty to drop a rope and share the footholds”. Kirsty Peebles, Newsdirect
