Morton was appointed Assistant Director for Newsdirect Scotland in August 2023. In this role he oversees general work planning and parliamentary business allocation, staff training and development, and the delivery of client services. Having joined in 2019, he initially worked as an Account Manager in the housing and social security portfolio, with a particular interest in homelessness, social housing and mental health, before later expanding to account for enterprise. In the last parliamentary session, he led Newsdirect Scotland’s reporting of the inquiry into the Scottish Government’s handling of harassment complaints, and currently leads scrutiny of the Finance and Public Administration Committee, retaining responsibility for clients in the finance and taxation sectors.

Originally from Dunblane, Morton studied International Relations and Politics at the University of Dundee, before unwittingly following in Kirsty’s footsteps by working at Press Data as a Production Editor. Outside of work, Morton has a love-hate relationship with running (depending on how recently he last ran a marathon). He is a big football fan, is always open to film, TV and book recommendations, and normally has a gig (or two) just round the corner.

Why we are different

We disrupted the political monitoring market in 2000 and, though we're bigger and bolder now, we've maintained a person-centred process throughout.
