Queen’s Speech: HM The Queen will deliver the Queen’s Speech at 11:30 in the House of Lords on Tuesday 11 May, setting out the government’s legislative agenda for the coming year, and marking the formal reopening of parliament. The parliament will hold a series of debates this week on the content of the speech.  Boris Johnson has said the speech will focus on the national recovery from COVID-19, supporting the NHS, levelling up and “spreading opportunity”.

It is expected the speech will include up to thirty separate pieces of legislation and will include several bills brought forward from the previous session, including: the Environment Bill which will set legally binding environmental targets; and the Police, Crime Sentencing and Courts Bill to increase sentences for serious sexual and violent crimes and to reform the right to protest.
