Paul Murphie

Deputy Head of Monitoring & Commercial Lead - Scotland

Paul is the deputy head of monitoring at Newsdirect and is an experienced account manager looking after a number of national organisations as part of an Enterprise & Connectivity portfolio. Originally from Dundee, Paul studied French and International Relations at the University of St Andrews, graduating in 2013. He then worked in commercial roles in London and Edinburgh, including for News UK and The List Magazine, before joining Newsdirect in January 2019. In that time he has covered a general election, a Holyrood election, a Prime Ministerial handover and numerous cabinet reshuffles. He also works on Newsdirect’s commercial strategy and product development.

Outside of covering Scottish politics, Paul enjoys a versatile assortment of hobbies and in his spare time can be found playing football or rugby, running, and nervously cheering on his beloved Dundee United behind his fingers. He is also an experienced amateur theatre director and performer and has been involved in a number of productions at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
