Elspeth was recruited to Newsdirect Scotland in 2021 as monitoring lead for environment, agriculture and rural affairs, succeeding Sarah Cowie. Prior to this she worked for the Institute for Government and UCL’s Constitution Unit doing research on devolution in the UK, inter-governmental co-operation and constitutional futures. She graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in politics in 2019.

Politics aside, she spends her time buying books she’ll take years to get round to reading, going for walks in graveyards and making vegetarian lasagne (and other things too, but mostly lasagne). She could talk for hours about the London Underground, Taylor Swift and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Why we are different

We disrupted the political monitoring market in 2000 and, though we're bigger and bolder now, we've maintained a person-centred process throughout.
